Sanitation removes several batches of lenses that can cause corneal abrasion.

Recall of several lots of 1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST contact lenses for astigmatism manufactured by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc.

The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Healthcare Products (Aemps) reported on Tuesday the withdrawal of several batches of 1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST contact lenses for astigmatism manufactured by the US company Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc. due to the possible presence of a “foreign body” in the lenses themselves or in the solution of the contact lens blister.

According to the company, these are specifically the lots with master lot numbers 395749, 395750 and 395751 and warned that the presence of these small particles in these everyday lenses in people with healthy eyes who have astigmatism, “could cause redness, discomfort or abrasion of the cornea. These lenses are indicated for the optical correction of refractive errors, myopia and hyperopia and are distributed in Spain through the company Johnson & Johnson S.A (Vision Care).

The company has sent a warning note to inform the health professionals of the optical establishments in Spain that have the affected batches, which includes the actions to be taken in order to proceed with their withdrawal. It has also recommended that they withdraw the products from sale and contact the company for their return.

With regard to the patients, he advised not to use the lenses and to contact the optician where they were purchased for their return and replacement. In addition, in case of eye discomfort, he urged them to contact their doctor.
